This cranberry relish is easy, delicious, and a lot prettier than the canned version. It only takes 20 minutes to make and it’s well worth it!
- 4 cups fresh cranberries
- 2/3 cup sugar
- Zest of 1/2 an orange
- Juice of 1 orange
- 1 cinnamon stick
- Dash of nutmeg
Zest half of an orange with a microplane, then cut the orange in half and juice it. Put all ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce beginnings to thicken and the cranberries soften. Don’t be alarmed when you hear popping noises- it’s just the cranberries opening up.
Refrigerate until cool- it can be kept in the fridge for a couple of days until you serve it (making it a good make-ahead item for Thanksgiving!)
